EXCLUSIVE: Maddie Ziegler On Sia, Millie Bobby Brown & Being True To Yourself
It's official, Maddie Ziegler is the quadruple threat we all wish we could've been at 15 years old.
She may have gotten her start on reality TV show Dance Moms but Maddie has come leaps and bounds since then. Over the past few years, the dancer, actress, model, and author has become Sia's muse, starred in multiple TV series, designed her own clothing line, penned three books and now, she's the face of her very own body spray for Impulse.
...Did we mention she's only 15!?
MTV Style recently sat down with Maddie for the launch of her Impulse body spray, to chat about everything from art, to friendship, and being true to yourself.
...On Having Her Own Fragrance
"I'm so excited to be collaborating with Impulse, to be their new muse. Also, being able to help out with the design of the bottle has been a really fun process."
"...And it's so cool that I now have my own body spray!"
...On Collaborating On The Art & Design
"I love illustrating, and drawing, and designing. I put my illustrations and drawings on my clothing line and now I've helped to design the can for my Impulse body spray."
"I like being involded in everything I do and help create the art."
...On Working & Living With Sia
"My relationship with Sia is incredible," said Maddie. "She's basically a second mum, or more like an older sister to me."
Maddie also credited Sia as her "biggest role model," explaining that she "influences me to be a better person."
Ziegler also admitted that when she's stressed or just needs a little time out, Sia's house is where she retreats. "Sometimes when I get stressed out or I just need to get out of my house for a second, I just go to hers. She always knows how to calm me down and have fun."
...On Her BFF Millie Bobby Brown
What started as mutual fandom has sprouted a lifelong friendship between Maddie and Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown.
"Millie was a really big fan of the reality show I was on. When she came to a taping of a show I was filming at the time I thought she was really sweet, then everyone kept telling me I needed to watch Stranger Things and I was like 'OMG, that's the girl that came to my show!"
"I DM'ed her and ever since then we clicked have been best friends."
...Her Biggest Piece Of Advice To Young Girls?
"It's really important for young girls to know that they are strong, that they can do whatever they put their mind to. There's a lot of people trying to push others down, and say 'that's not a good idea, that's not creative enough,' but whatever you put your mind to, you'll achieve."
"I also think that it's important to be true to who you are. I think it's amazing that girls look up to me and want to be just like me, but I also remember to tell them to be themselves."
That's some pretty sage advice for a 15-year-old girl! Maddie, can we be BFFs yet?
