MJ Scene Cut From Bruno
The guy who wrapped his bum cheeks around Eminem's head at the MTV Movie Awards isn't all gags and shock tactics - it appears the uber un-PC Bruno has a sensitive side.
A scene in the recently released ‘Bruno’ movie featuring Michael Jackson’s sister La Toya has been permanently deleted from the raunchy comedy just hours before its LA première, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
It's told the scene shows a bewildered La Toya being unsuccessfully coaxed by the flamboyant fashionista to sing like her brother. When she declines, Bruno, played by Sasha Baron Cohen snatches La Toya's iPhone, barks orders to an assistant in German and tells her to write MJ home phone number down.
While the gag doesn't even rate on the smut-scale compared to Bruno's other antics, Universal Pic execs erred on the side of caution and made the decision to cut it at the last minute, out of respect for the Jackson family.
While rare (and potentially expensive) for a studio to make last minute changes, it’s not the first time. In the wake of 9/11, Sony halted a ‘Spider Man’ trailer that showcased the Twin Towers.
Bruno, who was in Sydney last night for the Australian première of his film, had jaws on the floor when he arrived as a scantily clad Knight in Shining Armour riding a confused-looking horse.
“I hope my movie outlasts swine flu and let’s hope that, like herpes, it with will continue to infect audiences for the next 1,000 years. Of all the countries in the world, Sydney is the best. Sydney gay capital, come to my room, 312 at the Hilton!”
