Miley Cyrus smokes up on stage at the '2013 MTV EMA'
Thought Miley Cyrus was tame at the '2013 MTV EMA'? Think again.
Opening the night with ‘We Can’t Stop’ in a rather respectable silver dress and minimal twerking, the 20-year-old had us convinced she was behaving herself. She also stayed true to her strictly-no-foam-finger promise.
“God, I don’t know [what people will think]. If I only knew,” she said. “But I can't think of any kind of prop that I would use in disrespect and offend. So I think I'm good about that. No Foam Finger Association is going to call me. I made custom [alien costumes for her performance], I made my own. No one owns aliens.”
Taking to the stage for a second time, the singer remained equally as tame, belting out her hit ‘Wrecking Ball’ with an accompanying vid of her in tears.
Ever the tease, Miles kept us guessing til the end of the night, when she climbed the stage in a white leotard and fur jacket to accept her award for Best Video.
“I don’t have enough room in my purse, so I’m going to put it right here,” she explained, placing the award on the ground.
“But I did find this...” she continued, revealing a smoke, lighting up and taking a drag.
While it remains unclear as to whether the joint was simply nicotine or something more controversial, the singer did raise eyebrows earlier this week, making a few drug jokes with Katy Perry via Twitter.

While the drug is legal in Amsterdam, the cheeky stunt unveils another side to Cyrus’ self-proclaimed “movement.”
Either way, one thing is clear – Hannah Montana is gone for good.
