Katy Perry’s music video ‘Wide Awake’ being given the nod in the ‘Video Of The Year’ category at the ‘2012 MTV Video Music Awards.’
So in honour, MTV News has released some behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot to find out what it’s all about!
The new music video was filmed in 3-D, the same as the pop princess’s latest movie ‘Katy Perry: Part Of Me.’
“I thought it would be cool to make the music video in 3-D because the film is in 3-D,” Katy says in the clip.
Meanwhile, the ‘Firework’ singer revealed that the Gothic backdrop and the journey she takes in ‘Wide Awake’ are metaphors for what she’s been going through this past year.
“I had an idea to do a video like this, a retrospective of my last year through artist moments,” she admitted.
In the behind-the-scenes footage, the 27-year-old discussed how she came up with ideas for the clip.
“I wanted a feminine but also dark, like [the film] The Craft, vibe.. I’ve entered the labyrinth of my life. And there will be different symbolic moments [like flying glass] that occur as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.”
Katy has also been nominated for ‘Best Female Video,’ ‘Best Art Direction,’ and ‘Best Visual Effects’ at this year’s VMA’s.
Don’t miss all the action at the ‘2012 MTV Video Music Awards,’ which broadcasts live from LA’s Staples Center Friday September 7 @ 9am (11am NZ) on MTV Australia!
