After an electric performance by RnB hottie Jason Derulo, who belted out his chart topping hits 'It Girl' and ‘In My Head’ in a mohawk-embellished hoodie, industry veterans Coldplay had a tough act to follow opening the MTV EMAs!
But the English rockers kicked off the MTV EMA in the best possible way by belting out their new fan favourite hit ‘Every Teardrop is a Waterfall’ off their fifth studio album ‘Mylo Xyloto’! Bouncing around the blue-lit stage to an enthusiastic crowd of thousands who couldn’t wait to get their night started, Chris Martin proved why the Brit chart-toppers were solid contenders for the nomination of 'Best Live'!
Host Selena Gomez introduced the “ever lovely” J-Woww and a super slim Snooki who were dressed in their ‘Jersey Shore’ best with sleek black LBDs, tans ramped up to orange end of the spectrum and poofed hair. The pair announced the noms for the hotly contested 'Best Live' category.
Beating out stiff competition from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga and Coldplay was Katy Perry, who took to the stage with frosted pink hair and a demure pink studded jacket.
“This is probably my favourite award because my fans mean so much to me…,” said the songstress. “It’s so easy to buy a song, to download a song, to steal a song, but it takes commitment to go to a live show.”
“This means so much to me thank you!”
