Coolio's Australian Tour Cancelled
Coolio hasn't had much luck lately. There was the flubbed stage dive incident (security had to save him 'Bodygaurd' style), then a humiliating drug bust at LAX airport; now Coolio's had to cancel his Australian tour due to pending drug charges.
Last Tuesday, the 45 year old Grammy Award winner was charged with a felony count of possessing crack cocaine, misdemeanours for processing a smoking device, and battery after a scuffle with security staff at Los Angeles International Airport earlier this month.
Coolio was released on a $10,000 bail and is due to appear in a US court on April 3rd .
According to ABC.com a spokeswoman for Coolio's Australian tour said the pending charges will mean he will be barred from entering the country. He's not the only rapper to have been denied entry into Australia Snoop Dogg was enroute to the MTV Australia Awards in 2007 when the local government denied his via.
The rapper turned reality TV star was supposed to perform in Melbourne last Friday, and had scheduled shows across the country including Perth, Sydney and the Gold Coast later this month.
According to Starpulse.com, the cancellation was announced days after the rapper's Aussie publicist Petrina Convey admitted the arrest would throw the tour into peril.
She said, 'We've spoken to his management in the U.S, but they aren't telling us anything.'
If convicted Coolio faces up to three whooping years in jail.
'He is deeply saddened to have to cancel the shows and wishes to apologise to all his Australian fans for the disappointment,' said a spokeswoman in a statement.
So if you were looking forward to a riotous rap-along to 'Gangsters Paradise' you may be waiting a while yet; the rapper won't be making any public appearances for some time. All pre-sold tickets will be refunded.
