James Franco hints at possibility of ‘Spring Breakers 2’
Fresh off his recent Comedy Central ‘Roast,’ all-rounder workaholic James Franco has hinted at the possibility of returning to his gangster cornrows and grills in a second ‘Spring Breakers’ movie.
In an interview with MTV News, the actor said that although he wouldn’t mind doing a second film, he wasn’t sure writer and director Harmony Korine wanted a sequel.
“I mean, Harmony and I are certainly going to do something else together. I don’t think Harmony really wants do to Spring Breakers 2. He’s not the one who’s been talking about it,” he explained.
“Although, when we were making the movie, there was talk of a prequel. My character and Gucci Mane’s character [Big Arch] were supposed to have been former friends, so we at one time talked about, ‘What was that like? Let’s make that movie!’ So there’s that. There’s a prequel version, or there’s the version of Alien’s friend or something. I don’t know.”
If Korine doesn’t return, will Franco be the one sitting in the director’s chair? “They've asked me if I'm interested. I don’t know. It’s really just talk.”
Franco is currently starring in a ‘Consider This Sh*t’ ad campaign in a bid to secure a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his role as Alien in the first ‘Spring Breakers’ flick.
