James Franco opens up about hitting on teen: ‘I’m embarrassed’
James Franco has been slammed by fans recently for asking a 17-year-old girl to meet up with him at a NYC hotel via Instagram.
Talking to Live with Kelly & Michael in the US, the star wanted to address the elephant in the room.
“I didn’t want to come on the show and feel awkward,” he said adding, “I guess I’m embarrassed.”
The actor went on to explain that with social media, you “don’t know who’s on the other end… you don’t know who you’re talking to.”
“I used bad judgement,” he admitted.
The incident saw the 31-year-old actor asking the 17-year-old Scottish girl if she had a boyfriend, and “whats your #.”
When she didn’t believe Franco was the real deal, the star sent a photograph of himself holding up a piece of paper with the girls name, ‘Lucy’ written on it.

When screenshots of the interaction went viral, reactions from the public were less than savoury with many branding Franco as a ‘perverted’ and ‘sick.’
On the other hand, many believe this is just another one of his publicity stunts. Interestingly, in Franco’s upcoming flick ‘Palo Alto,’ the actor plays a soccer coach who seduces his teenage player.
