Ke$ha’s mum talks daughter’s rehab: ‘It’s a miracle she hadn’t already dropped dead’
Ke$ha’s mother, Pebe Sebert, has spoken out in a recent interview about her daughter’s health, revealing that doctors had told her it was a “miracle” that the superstar “hadn’t already dropped dead on stage” before checking into rehab.
Just a few weeks ago, the ‘Timber’ singer told E! News that she was seeking help for an eating disorder and hoping to “learn to love” herself again.
And speaking to People magazine recently, the star’s mum explained just how extreme her situation had become.
“I’ve watched my beautiful, self-confident, brilliant daughter be berated and ridiculed for her looks and weight to the point that she almost died,” shared Sebert.
“The doctors told me her blood pressure and sodium levels were so low, they’d never seen it that low except with someone who’d had a heart attack or stroke.
“They said it was a miracle she hadn’t already dropped dead on stage,” she added.
It was just before Christmas last year that the 26-year-old confided in her mother and admitted she needed help.
“She called me and admitted how much she’d been throwing up, and I just said, ‘Okay.’ I called some centres and Ke$ha agreed to talk to them and liked what they said,” explained Sebert, who shared that her daughter had been battling body issues since she was a teenager.
“She basically cried until we got there three days later.”
The starlet is now determined that her health is the most important thing for her to focus on right now, with Pebe telling the magazine: “At this point, she doesn’t care if she ever makes a record again. She just wants to be healthy and happy.”
