Ledger’s Music Video Clip
A Heath Ledger-directed video-clip for Modest Mouse single, ’King Rat’, has been premiered online.
The late Aussie movie star was a long-time fan of the lo-fi rockers and approached frontman Issac Brock with his idea for a video in 2007.
The rest is history and much like the actor himself, the final cut is full of light and dark.
While looking cute and cheerful to begin with, the clip soon twists into something darker: images of smiling suns and bouncing whales give way to images of whales harpooning and skinning humans, before turning them into seal food.
Ledger was an animal rights advocate and his aim with the controversial clip was to draw attention to the illegal commercial whale hunts that take place off the shores of Australia.
The ‘King Rat’ vid is available on iTunes from August 7.
