Lorde talks Taylor Swift friendship: ‘Is there something wrong with lesbians?'
Lorde has quickly squashed rumours she and new BFF Taylor Swift are in a romantic relationship in a recent radio interview.
Talking to Kyle and Jackie O on their hugely successful radio show ‘KIIS FM,’ the 17-year-old superstar was quick to defend her friendship with Taylor when shock jock Kyle Sandilands asked, “Are you guys together now?”
While the controversial host clarified he didn’t mean “Ellen [Degeneres] together,” the question still prompted Lorde to fire back.
“What do you mean you’re not talking about ‘Ellen together,’ is there something wrong with lesbians?” she snapped.
Refusing to let the rumour mill gain any kind of momentum, Lorde then warned Kyle: “Don’t even try it,” but Sandilands didn’t let up.
“I do love her though, we get along well with her. She’s very down to earth, right?” he said, pressing for more information about the inseparable best friends.
Lorde didn’t give him much, instead cutting the conversation about Taylor short, directing it more towards her recent decision to turn down supporting Katy Perry on her ‘PRISM’ world tour.
“I think in the really early stages of any artist’s career it’s important for them to establish themselves for themselves,” she said. “I’m just basically really stubborn and I want to be really independent and so I wanted to be headlining my own shows as opposed to supporting someone else.”
True to her word, Lorde just announced she’ll be performing all ages gigs in a huge Australian tour. Tickets go on sale Friday March 21.
