Martin Garrix talks dance music idols: Hardwell, Porter Robinson and Eric Prydz
Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix has opened up about his dance music idols during a chat with MTV at Future Music Festival in Sydney on Saturday.
On his first visit to Australia, the 17-year-old ‘Animals’ producer revealed he has had “one crazy ride with all of [his] friends,” and also looks up to a number of artists on the festival line-up.
“Definitely Hardwell, how he is live is crazy,” Garrix said when asked about artists he admired. “But I look up to a lot of people. I look up to Porter Robinson, Deadmau5 as well, and Eric Prydz.”
Going on to talk about his experience at the Sydney leg of the national festival, Garrix told us his highlight was seeing Deadmau5 – real name Joel Zimmerman – perform live for the first time.
“I was in the crowd during his set with a cap on. I really enjoyed it,” he said. “I was with a lot of other artists in the crowd watching Deadmau5. It was really good.”
