Music programming for breakfast, lunch and dinner, that’s’ what ’MTV Classic’ all about.
On May 1, 2010, MTV Networks Australia will flick the switch on its brand new 24-hour music channel, ’MTV Classic’.
Aimed as lovers of music from the 80s to the 00s, ’MTV Classic’ will deliver premiere music videos and artist related programming that has been part of the music landscape since the network’s inception in 1981.
’MTV Classic’ will play homage to an array of artists including Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael Jackson and Prince, as well as iconic Australian acts like INXS, Powderfinger and Silverchair. So you’ll have all you’re favourite genres covered off in this fab one-stop-music-shop.
But the fun doesn’t stop there, ’MTV Classic’ will also broadcast acclaimed MTV music-inspired series’ including MTV Unplugged, Behind the Music, Storytellers and The Osbourne’s, plus early artist footage from the MTV archives.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, MTV will host a live music extravaganza featuring local and international artist that have influenced today’s music culture. The event will be MTV’s salute to a new decade, with the show taking the place of our traditional Awards format – and will premiere on ’MTV Classic’ in May.
’MTV Classic’ will go live on Saturday 1 May 2010 and will replace VH1 on channel 810 in the Music & Radio section of the Electronic Program Guide.
