New Solo Album for Tim Rogers
Crusty old bard Tim Rogers - he of the impressive sideburns, fusty pinstriped suits and lyrical observations on girls, jewels and wally raffles - is releasing a solo album on 29th September 2007 through his label Ruby Q.
But don't be seduced by the teak retro artwork and expect it to be a happy affair. Prepare yourself instead for 11 tracks of "emotionally charged lyrics covering recurring themes of loneliness, sadness and heartbreak".
Evocatively titled The Luxury of Hysteria, the tracks are acoustic enchantments so spare as to almost pass for a poetry recital, as Rogers sings and whispers his way through prose about being sad and having quiet nights in. Whilst he has never been praised for his vocal quality, the songs seem written for his husky hit-and-miss charm, and are elevated by a backdrop of storm sounds and the quiet late-night tone of his instruments.
Demonstrating an incredible travelling schedule, Tim will be gracing most Australian cities with his music from now until Christmas. If you're interested in tickets or the up-coming album, hit on his MySpace page for further info.
