Polo Club Release Debut Album
Traditionally, 13 is an unlucky number. But if Polo Club’s genre smashing sounds are anything to go by, convention is not something the duo typically adheres to.
The Victorian MTV Kickstart victors are making good on their promise to shred the airwaves with soulful strings, funky bass lines and mesmorising rhymes by dropping their long awaited debut album, The 13 this May.
It didn’t take long for those spruiking Australia’s hottest emerging talent to sanction the innovative production act – as well as reaching the finals of the MTV Kickstart competition, Polo Club have also featured on Triple J’s Unearthed and the Good Vibrations Festival, with punters left gasping for more of the idiosyncratic beat arrangement, deft lyricism and bounce that puts Polo in a league of their own.
Urban Monk and Camelot The Cameleon have crafted a slamming slab of undefinable pop on this collection; tracks '2.0' and 'Hey Urban' showcase Polo Club's open-minded, cross-over take on urban music - an infectious mix of 808s, bass weight, vocoder and tough-bitten flows.
Radio friendly cuts 'Ego (So Drastic)' and 'Million $' bring the duo's love of classic, sing-along hooks and narrative song form into sharp relief.
Underpinned by a sense of real soulful ambition, ‘The 13’ is a futuristic, R ‘n’ B flecked banger certifying Polo Club as digital pop prodigies after only a year or so in the game.
Get amongst without delay. The 13 will be available in stores and online 2 May through AmpHead Music / The Orchard.
