Pussycat Dolls Sharpen Claws
After years of clawing their way to the top, The Pussycat Dolls may be on the brink of a bust up.
The raunchy burlesque troop, who are currently on tour in the US, have recently made headlines after a very public cat-spat between two members, Melody Thorntonand Nicole Scherzinger, on stage during a show in Arizona.
As reported by Perezhilton.com, tension in the group has been a-boiling of late, as lead singer Nicole increasingly distances herself from the other girls to concentrate on a solo career. This was made evident when the girls latest single ‘Jai HO’ was released as "The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger".
Although Nicole was always intended to be the leader of the cat pack, it seems that the other members are growing a little resentful of Nicole hogging the limelight. Melody made her grievances clear when she addressed the crowd during a concert in her hometown Phonix, Arizona saying “Thank you for supporting me even though I'm not featured!" Melody then went on to say "Don’t let anyone stomp on your dreams!"
Judging by the dirty look Nicole shot her, the singer appeared less than impressed by the snide remarks and needless to say, the remainder of the show was a tad awkward.
The Doll’s record label Interscope has refused to comment on the incident or on rumours that Nicole will make an official departure from the band once their touring commitments are over.
While we can only speculate what the future holds for these feisty females, history has shown that girl bands generally struggle to keep it together once they hit the big time and superstar egos collide.
Girl power and sisterhood don’t seem to linger long after one member receives a little more attention and success than the rest. Point in case - The Spice Girls, All Saints and Destiny’s Child for a start. While shooting stars such as Beyonce have gone on to enjoy solo careers of stratospheric proportions after departing from a pop group, many other former girl group members have faded out of the limelight forever, or worse still, reduced to appearing in cheesy infomercials, Dancing With The Stars or Celebrity Big Brother in a desperate bit to relieve their glory days.
No wonder why Melody is in such a tizz over Nicole’s stray from they kitty pack; she knows what’s coming and is doing her best to fight an untimely downfall!
While the supposed immanent demise of the Dolls is set to devastate their vast fanbase, others will not be so disappointed. Critics of the band have their fingers crossed that rumors will become a reality. As one blogger commented “the absence of Pussycat Dolls songs will be no major loss to the music industry”.
Meow! We are certainly hoping that these sexy ladies can kiss and make up before they arrive for the Australian leg of their international tour next month, ‘cause if there is one thing these girls can do well its shake their lycra clad bootyies and put on a killer show.
Work it out kittens!
