Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to host Golden Globes for next two years!
Everybody’s favourite comedic duo, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, have been announced as hosts of the Golden Globes for the next two years!
The pair brought solid ratings to the prestigious awards show when they hosted in 2013 – with the telecast boasting the biggest ratings in six years in both total viewers and the 18-49 demographic, reports CNN.
“Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season,” said NBC Entertainment’s president of alternative and late-night programming, Paul Telegdy, in a statement.
“We're elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years.”
Ironically, while hosting last year’s Golden Globes, Poehler made reference to Ricky Gervais being signed up for three years due to his slew of hilarious backhanded compliments and jabs at Hollywood’s elite during his time as host from 2010 to 2012.
“We want to assure you that we have no intention of being edgy or offensive tonight, because as Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times,” she joked.
Just last month, Fey addressed speculation that the pair were set to host the show once again, telling Access Hollywood: “Amy and I, we'll talk about it tonight. [We'll do it] if we feel like we have like three more jokes left in our joke bag.”
“NBC invited us back and so we're going to see if we think we can do it without stinking it up.”
The ‘71st Annual Golden Globe Awards’ will take place on January 12 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
