TUPAC Biopic in the works!
Late rapper Tupac Shakur will be remembered in a biopic directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker, John Singleton of ‘Boyz n the Hood’ fame.
After several legal hurdles and endless production delays, the long-awaited tribute film is set to start production in the States this year.
Talking to Variety, Singleton explained why he wanted to tell Tupac’s story.
"Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with,
"His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation." He said.
It is unclear who will portray him in the film at this stage, but the pressure is certainly on for Singleton to get it right. According to Variety, finding the right actor was one of the many things that contributed to the heavy production delays from the start.
The biopic will once again immortalise the treasured rapper who was gunned down in 1996 at just 25 years old.
His memory and legacy lives on in countless examples of rap music and pop culture today.
