Twilight: New Moon is Coming!
Take a deep breath and sharpen your fangs, because the second instalment of the ‘Twilight’ saga is coming!
Due for release November 19, 2009 ‘New Moon’ has enjoyed unprecedented hype, thanks to the popularity of the first movie, and the devilishly handsomeRobert Pattison who has sent hordes of young girls into love-lorn meltdown. Perez Hilton's outspoken crush hasn't hurt either!
For those who have been absent from the world of the living, the ‘Twilight’ series is adapted from the best selling books from author Stephenie Meyer and tells the heart-wrenching, knicker-twisting drama of mortal Bella and her blood-sucking lover Edward. The story has captured the imaginations of vampire fans the world over, and by all accounts Twilight 2 is going to cause just as much stir.
In ‘New Moon’, the temptation to munch down on Bella (Kristen Stewart) is all too much for spunky Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) who unexpectedly ditches town, breaking Bella’s heart. But it’s not all tears and tissues, Bella finds comfort in the arms of mysterious hunk Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), who doesn’t have a problem with filling Edward’s vampy shoes. Love triangle anyone?
But it wouldn’t be a vampire tale without the inclusion of their eternal enemies - werewolves! Like any family, there’s history and it isn’t a sweet one between the vamps and the wolves. Bella is stuck in the middle of the two families embroiled in a centuries long rift, and inevitably becomes torn between her family friendships and her true love.
Robert Pattinson told Entertainment Tonight, ‘I really hope it's going to live up to the hype, hopefully it will. ... The last one was kind of a success.’ Vampishly good looking and modest too, sigh! With the first ‘Twilight’ raking in over US$350 million, tickets to ‘New Moon’ are expected to be sold out for weeks.
For those of you behind on the ‘Twilight’ news, actress Dakota Fanning, has also jumped on the bandwagon (with a whole bunch new characters), playing the deceptively angelic looking vamp Jane. Dakota’s character is a member of Italy's evil Volturi vampire coven and critics will be out to decide whether the golden girl can pull off nasty.
Filming has been taking place across Tuscany, Italy and Vancouver, BC, setting us up for some mind-blowing shots from these stunning locations. The new director, Chris Weitz, director of ‘The Golden Compass’, has his work cut out for him keeping the hordes of killer fans happy.
Summit Entertainment released a statement detailing the filmmakers commitment to keep the story relatable, and has revealed that each actor cast for the wolf pack were of Native decent.
If that’s not enough to keep you lot happy, you will be pumped to know that filming for the third movie is already in the works. ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ has a targeted release date of June 30, 2010!
We’ll keep you posted.
