U2 On Tour
What's an album launch without a supporting world tour?
A wasted opportunity, that's what. No surprises then that U2 have announced an international tour in support of their 12th studio release, 'No Line on the Horizon'.
The veteran Irish rockers will hit the road on 30 June, kicking off the tour in Barcelona before working their way through Europe, the UK and then North America. While no Australian dates have been announced yet, we'd be very surprised if the group didn't make it down here sometime in 2009.
The band are said to be performing on a specially designed, 360-degree stage on the tour and will be surrounded by the audience at all times. Confirmed supports for different shows include Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Black Eyed Peas.
In other U2 news, the band have had a New York street (temporarily) renamed U2 Way in their honour and seen their Spider-Man musical open. Okay, the Spider-Man musical isn't really written or directed by them, but they did write the music for it. So it still counts. Sort of.
Oh, and before we forget, Bono couldn't resist taking a few pot shots at Coldplay's Chris Martin last week - which is exactly the kind of thing you do when you have a new album out and need to generate a bit of publicity.
