Check out the next stripped-back superstars:
It’s fair to say North Queensland born, Melbourne-based brothers Adam & Nathan Lyons have had quite the life of a journeyman so far. After relocating to the sunny Gold Coast during their teenage years, ‘Lyon Apprentice’ then spent two years in Manchester UK before returning home to create their signature mix of rigid, creaky folk songs and playful dream-pop ballads about their memories of past homes, old friends and former loves that are nothing but relatable.
Growing up in the small New South Wales snowy mountain town of Tumbarumba, Sydney based singer/songwriter Esmé was homeschooled and lived with her family alongside her 6 other siblings until the age of 16 before moving out to begin her music journey. With a sonically genre-defying aesthetic to her sound and a mesmerising voice to match, there’s no denying the creative energy oozing out of Esmé’s music.
With the likes of U2 and Coldplay blaring out of his family speakers as a youngster in suburban Adelaide and receiving an acoustic guitar on his 8th birthday, there’s no doubt that music was the route LOS LEO (aka Tom Montesi) was going to take. Tom went from drawing inspirations from his influences, to writing his own material and forming a band, until an untimely split saw Tom go it alone and continue what he started. With an abundance of indie-pop ballads, LOS LEO makes music that is pretty damn captivating.
A prolific quartet in the Melbourne music scene ‘Baby Blue’ is a band centered around lead vocalist and songwriter Rhea Caldwell that have been impressing us with their infectious melodies over the past two years. They sonically tap into the nostalgic 60s surf rock sounds sprinkled with Americana and blues which certainly creates a beautiful concoction of emotions. Rhea Caldwell’s songwriting evokes candid and relatable lyrics which seemingly flow together and create magic.
