Full Biography
As a singer, songwriter and actress Ashlee has shown her talents go further then critics or fans would have expected.
At the age of 11 Ashlee was the youngest person ever to be admitted into the School of American Ballet. At the age of 14 her parents moved their family to Los Angeles, where Ashlee continued dancing on her sister’s dance show. Ashlee wanted branch out on her own; so had a go at acting with small role on family sitcoms such as ‘Malcolm in the Middle’. Just a little patience is all it takes not long after Ashlee found herself as a regular on the popular TV drama ‘Seventh Heaven’.
But Ashlee's heart was set on a music career, and when one of her songs, "Just Let Me Cry," landed on the Freaky Friday soundtrack in 2003 it was all the push Ashlee needed and while Seventh Heaven wasn’t in production Geffern records were impressed with her work on the Freaky Friday that they signed her to the record label only weeks after the release of the sondtrack.
Ashlee’s smash hit debut single ‘ Pieces Of Me’ went straight to number one for four weeks. Her vocals, lyrics and music were recognizably different from her sister Jessica Simpson. The process of putting her album together was captured on her MTV reality show. The show followed her on a daily basis to the studio and broadcasted the ups and downs of her career and personal life. The show lasted one season. Her style of music come from elements of rock, punk, and pop, recalling Ashlee's own favorite band, such as Fiona Apple, Hole and Green Day. Her Debut album ‘Autobiography’ was released in 2004, and sold over 398,000 in the U.S alone.
But while promoting her album Ashlee was known to on occasion to lose her voice, which turned into an absolute disaster when it came time for her to sing on the popular TV show Saturday Night Live. Ashlee was forced to lip-sync her songs, but when the wrong track was played Ashlee was left humiliated on national TV.
The following year in 2005 Ashlee released her sophomore album ‘I Am Me’; for this album she decided to record it without the cameras rolling. ‘I Am Me’ went straight to the top of the charts and sold more than three millions copies.
Ashlee also made her movie debut in the same year. She co-stared in ‘Undiscovered’ as an aspiring entertainer trying to establish her self in Los Angeles.
In 2006 the starlet made her stage debut in the London production of Chicago. In the Musical she one of the three lead Roxie Hart, the role earned her a standing ovation. That wasn’t the Ashlee was making headlines for, there was increasing fuss surrounding her evolving facial features. Intense media scrutiny circulated when Ashlee was reported saying that girl should embrace their bodies the way they are.
Soon after she was photographed for the cover of Marie Claire, with reports that she had undergone plastic surgery. Ashlee reportedly had some work done to her nose; she claimed it had to do with improving her singing abilities.
Ashlee private life stared to make the cover of the tabloids in 2007 when she started dated her now husband Pete Wentz, the bassist for Fall Out Boy. After a just over a year the two married in May 2008. This came after reports leaked of her pregnancy.
