Full Biography
Flo Rida, aka Tramar Dillard, is best known for his single 'Low' which reached #1 in six countries including Australia, New Zealand and his home country, the USA.
Born December 16, 1979, Flo Rida (a Florida native) was encouraged to express himself through music at the hand of his multi- instrumental father. In the ninth grade, he joined rap-group Groundhoggz and soon he got the call to tour with 2 Live Crew’s Fresh Kid Ice.
Serious about pursuing his MC career, Flo Rida relocated to LA in 2003 and started peddling his own music on the streets, taking odd jobs to fund his passion. By 2006, with seemingly nothing having come from his hard work in LA, Flo returned to Florida and met with Poe Boy Entertainment’s CEO E-Class, who had been pushed a demo by Flo Rida’s older sister.
He soon signed with Poe Boy, and a few months later with label Atlantic Records. Over the next year, he collaborated with high power producers such as Timberland and will.i.am on his debut record 'Mail On Sundays'.
His first single 'Low', released in 2007, hit the ground running. Staying at the top of the charts in the US for 10 weeks and became a radio and club favourite around the world. His second single 'Elevator' featured Timberland and reached #13 on the ARIA charts and #16 on the Billboard 100.
He has collaborated with artists Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child) and closer to home with Australian Idol finalist Jessica Mauboy. Their September 2008 single 'Running Back' has so far reached #14 on the ARIA charts and sees a coupling of two rising stars from opposite sides of the world.
