When George Clooney teamed up with MTV for ‘Hope For Haiti Now’ telethon he promised fans “a lot of great musicians.”
And that’s exactly what they’re gonna get.
Wyclef Jean in New York City, George Clooney in Los Angeles, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper reporting from Haiti - “Hope for Haiti Now” will feature more than one hundred of the biggest names in film, television, and music supporting the cause with testimonials and by answering phones during the telethon.
The all-star line-up also includes Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira and Sting performing in New York. In Los Angeles, Timberlake will be joined by Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift as well as a special group performance by Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock. In London, Coldplay will perform and there will be a unique and exciting new collaboration between Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z and Rihanna.
Rated a massive 7.0 on the Richter scale, the Haiti earthquake is the biggest earthquake to ever hit the Caribbean.
With George Clooney, Wyclef Jean and Anderson Cooper at the helm of the MTV-produced telethon, it’s expected the undertaking will not only be one of the biggest charitable efforts ever, but set to become the most widely distributed telethon in history.
All musical performances will be available for purchase for $.99 per song through the Apple® iTunes® Store beginning Saturday, January 23, with all proceeds benefiting Haiti relief funds managed by “Hope for Haiti Now” charities.
Help the stars spread the message further by texting “HAITI” to 90999 to make an automatic $10 donation or head to the Red Cross website.
