Full Biography

Phinesse are the Melbourne duo that have swiftly made a name for themselves in the urban-starved aussie market, with a unique brand of soulful melodies and smoothly delivered vocals.

If their previous touring success is anything to go by, (Phinesse have already had support slots on 50 Cent’s Australasian tour and scored a spot on the 2008 MTV Snow Jam line up) Phinesse are one group Aussie audiences will be seeing a lot more of. Due to drop their forthcoming album Audio Therapy (conjunction with their 2008 ‘Roc Tha Bloc’ tour) and already smashing the airwaves with the debut single 'I Can’t Wait', Phinesse are proving they are anything but a cookie-cutter R&B boy band.

A listen to their lyrics finds a refreshing lack of the usual ‘bling bitches and ho’s’ subject matter that so often plagues urban music, proving these boys can step outside the box without having to regress into worn stereotypes.

Devinee and Giovani have always been hooked on music, from young boys singing with church choirs, through to performances in school musicals. Hailing from Melbourne, by way of the Cook Islands, Phinesse’s Devine and Giovanni’s musical roots are firmly cemented in their Polynesian heritage. 1998 saw the boys delve into the world of hip hop and rapping, and after many years spent perfecting their styles, they collaborated under the banner of Phinesse. In 2005 they released No Standing, a free mixtape that garnered gold downloads from planeturban.com.au and moved thousands of units nation-wide.

Look out, because these boys mean business. Carving themselves a niche spot on the charts with a fusion of Pop and RnB with charm and swank to spare; by all accounts, Phinesse have the ways and means to crack the notoriously resilient mainstream market. This is hands in the air, no holds R&B and Australian urban music at it’s best.
