Australian duo, The Presets have successful managed the arduous task of bringing alternative electro rock sounds to the Top 40 charts, cementing them as leaders and innovators in the Australian music scene.



They Sydney based team consisting of Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes released their first album titled beam in 2005. This album was critically received and was an underground hit. Their tracks 'Are You The One', 'Down, Down, Down' and 'Go Hard or Go Home' have also became firm club favorites.



The group had developed quite a small but rabid following around the world after their first release, selling out shows in Europe and the US, and while they have yet to cross over to the mainstream music scene internationally, major music publications such as the US Rolling stone has labeled them the 'Future of Music'. Their song 'Are You The One' has also been featured in advertisements for BMW and been used to great effect in TV shows such as 'So You Think You Can Dance'.



In late 2007, The Presets toured Australia which electro legends Daft Punk. It was during this tour that the band introduced the first single of their new album 'Apocolypto' to the punters. The song 'My People' was well received and subsequently became a song that defined the '07/08 summer. The song also went on to the top spot on the ARIA Club Charts.



The song helped create plenty of buzz for the sophomore offering... The record was released in April 2008 and debuted at number one. Earlier that year another electro band 'Cut Copy' debuted at the top spot also, many music insiders signaled this as the first sign of electro music becoming a mainstay in mainstream pop music. The Presets are now firmly set as the pioneers for this type of sound. Recently, The Presets have had a number of nominations from the ARIA Awards including Album of the Year, Single Of The Year and Best Dance Album.
