New Kids on the Block, Aerosmith and more to perform concert in honour of Boston Marathon victims
Support is still flooding in for victims and their families affected by the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15 – with several musicians including Aerosmith and New Kids on the Block joining together for a special concert in their honour.
‘Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration’ is set to take place on May 30 at TD Garden and will also include artists such as James Taylor, Dane Cook, Jimmy Buffett, Carole King, Goldsmack, Extreme, Steven Wright and Jason Aldean.
NKOTB member Donnie Wahlberg told MTV News that he hoped the event would entertain and inspire in the wake of the tragedy.
“Like so many other proud Bostonians who have been extremely generous, we are honoured to step up and do our part to help the victims and their families,” said Wahlberg.
“Hopefully this event will not only raise money, but spirits as well.”
Fellow NKOTB member Joey McIntyre was running the marathon but fortunately was not injured by the bomb blasts.
The singer tweeted shortly after the tragedy: "There was an explosion by the finish line about 5 minutes after I finished—I'm ok but I'm sure there are many hurt."
More artists are set to join the lineup as the event draws closer.
