Here's Why Your New Year's Resolutions Are Bullsh*t
Every December we inevitably shuffle through to get to the end of what has no doubt been another flaming turd of a year.
Sure there would have been ups but with them come the downs and we ask ourselves how did we lose track? Did we not set enough goals? Did we not binge enough Netflix? Was it naive to even set resolutions in the first place?
Well the answer is: your New Year's resolutions are total and utter bullsh*t. Now, we're not here to tell you to lose sight of all your hopes and dreams, but rather, be better at setting these goals.
Here's a guide on how to make sure your 2018 resolutions actually help you have your most successful year to date...
Don't Overcook It
If you're writing a seven page essay on all the things you want to achieve next year, you're already setting yourself up for failure. Please remember that after all you're only human. Rather than setting a bunch of goals that you probably won't hit - and will make you feel like sh*t when you don't - set smaller more realistic ones. Our advice is to choose just one and throw all your focus into achieving it.
Real Eyes Realise Real Lies
Look, we think you're great but let's not sugar coat it, you're probably not going to become the Kween of the Kardashian empire. Not in one year anyway. Be realistic with your resolutions, aim for things that are out of your comfort zone not the stratosphere.
Visualise The Prize
Think hard about what the end game looks like for your goal, visualising can do wonders for our motivation. If you can picture yourself achieving your goal that is going to incentivise you when you hit a few road bumps along the way.
Step It Up
You gotta risk it to get the biscuit. The reason why goals and resolutions seem like a bit of a sh*t fight is because they're mean to. Achieving your goal is going to take time, it's not going to happen over night. But don't let that discourage you, make a plan and write out the steps you're going to take to hit that goal.
Don't beat yourself up when things aren't going your way. Exercise a bit of self-care and remind yourself that you can do this.
2018 YOU'RE GONNA BE OK.
