Gaga's alter-ego Jo Calderone kicked things off with a bang, performing the smash hit 'You And I' alongside guitarist Brian May from Queen and a troupe of look-a-like dancers.
Next up, Kanye and daddy-to-be Jay-Z stormed the stage for a surprise performance of 'Otis' from their brand spankin' new collaborative album 'Watch The Throne.'
Pitbull and Ne-Yo got the party started with their massive club hit 'Give Me Everything' before british songbird Adele brought it down a notch with a stunning performance of 'Someone Like You'
Chris Brown celebrated his return to the VMA stage with a mash-up of tracks including 'Yeah 3X,' Wu-Tang Clan's 'Protect Ya Neck,' Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and his latest track 'Beautiful People.'
A radiant Beyonce proved she really is the Queen B of pop, giving a killer rendition of 'Love On Top' and whipping out her trademark dance moves - despite rocking a baby bump!
Newcomers Young The Giant tore up the stage with 'My Body,' and later Bruno Mars picked up the tempo with a fantastic version of 'Valerie' featuring a full live jazz band, performed in memory of the late Amy Winehouse
And finally, hip hop heavyweight Lil' Wayne closed out the night with a (heavily bleeped!) medley of 'How To Love' and 'John.'
