According to Press Association, the ‘SexyBack’ singer took to Twitter just hours before he was due to arrive at the Southern Hospitality BBQ in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood to tip-off his plans!
"Wanna check out some live music tonight?? Meet me and @freesol at 45th & 9th at 11pm," Justin wrote.
At the venue Timberlake thanked the audience for showing their support at such short notice, saying,
"So you got my tweet, huh?"
He then took centre stage with the band FreeSol to rap on one of their songs before singing an acoustic version of his hit ‘What Goes Around’ while playing the guitar.
Even stars like actress Emma Roberts, newlyweds Kim Kardashian and hubby Kris Humphries, older sis Kourtney and her partner Scott Disick and JT’s ‘In Time’ co-star Amanda Seyfried showed up to hear the singer.
Justin has been concentrating on his acting career lately, telling Playboy magazine recently that music is no longer his focus.
"You go through these spurts when you miss it. In a perfect world I'd love to be able to involve myself in music and films as they come and go. People keep asking me when a new song or album is coming out, and I don't know what to say. Music is not my focus right now. It may be some day. It could happen next month or next year, but right now it's not where it's at for me.”
For those that missed the performance fear not! It seems Justin plans to take the stage again with the FreeSol, the hip-hop/rock band who he signed to his Tennman Records label in 2006.
“Thanks to everyone who came out to @bbqnyc…amazing night. Now, who’s ready to go again @Irving Plaza?!” he tweeted after the show.
