It’s been a couple of years since Brit superstars Arctic Monkeys last graced our shores – but with their third album due to drop next month, they’ve hinted that an Aussie tour is edging dangerously close!

But while fans Down Under might be desperate to hear the Sheffield lads debut the new material from their upcoming release ‘Suck It And See,’ frontman Alex Turner admits it’s the prospect of some decent weather that’s really drawing them back here!

“We’re thinking the new year,” Alex told the Daily Telegraph of their proposed Aussie visit.

“It’s always nice to come to Australia when the weather is sunny. Even the last time we came we were so keen to come we came in the middle of an album session, which probably wasn’t the best idea but we just wanted to go.”

Meanwhile, drummer Matt Helders has warned fans their new album, due to hit the shelves on June 6, will be a pretty big departure from their 2009 effort ‘Humbug.’

In a chat with The Fly, he said, “Some of the tunes on it are a bit more melodic than Humbug was. It’s probably a bit more mellow on the whole.

“There are bits in there that are heavy and bits that are fast, but in general a lot of the tunes are based on, I suppose, a more traditional way of writing songs. Starting off with chords and lyrics and melody and putting it all together, whereas before we wrote songs differently.”
