Girl power will be in full force at the ‘American Music Awards 2011!’

Thanks to a mighty bunch of female chart-toppers – this year’s bash will see the ladies leave the lads behind as they battle it out in LA next month.

Despite being forced to pull out of her US tour after suffering from a vocal chord haemorrhage, Adele’s proved there’s still a “fire starting in her heart” after bagging an impressive FOUR nominations!

And chomping at the bit just behind the Brit hitmaker are her female rivals Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihannaand Taylor Swift – who’ve each scooped three.

Meanwhile, representing the dudes is hip hop’s Lil Wayne, who’s going up against the girls with three noms of his own – while Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Jason Aldean, Kanye West, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and Pitbull have each earned themselves two nods.

And when it comes to rocking the stage at the bash, which kicks off on November 20, there’s sure to be plenty of ‘Fireworks’ as Katy Perry and Pitbull are confirmed to perform!

But surely the ‘I Know You Want Me’ star’s going to struggle to top his mind-blowing set at the ‘2011 MTV VMA…’

"That [VMA performance] was definitely a lot of fun. It's hard to get 60 women from Miami on a plane after they were partying the night before and bring that vibe out there,"
he joked to MTV News.

"But that's definitely what we're looking for: We're looking for a lot of energy, something very sexy, sophisticated, powerful — and get ready."
