’New Moon’ hysteria was in full swing yesterday as thousands of Twi-hards flocked like bats to the streets of Westwood in L.A for the premiere of the new ’Twilight’ movie.
But the frenzy wasn’t limited to teenage girls sporting fangs and pasty skin, even heavy hitters Jamie Foxx, 50 Cent, Emma Roberts and Twi-rockers Death Cab For Cutie filed in to be among the first to see the second instalment of the Twilight Saga.
Fans and celebrities alike weren’t disappointed as gothic pin-up Robert Pattinson swaggered nervously onto the red carpet, closely followed by his rumoured off-screen g-f, Kristen Stewart. The crowd kicked into high gear and barricades were pushed to the limits as fans scrambled to get a glimpse of the duo who’ve graced the covers of almost every entertainment mag in the world.
Careful not to add any more fuel to the are-they-aren't-they K-Stew and R-Patz rumour mill, Kristen gushed to anyone who’d listen of her admiration dedication to co-star Taylor Lautner.
"I'm so proud of that kid," Stewart said of Taycob. "Everybody thinks we have a sister/ little brother dynamic going on, and I definitely fought for him. I was totally on his side the entire time. But he's taught me more than I've ever been able to bestow on him. I think he's the most centered of everybody here. And I think the only reason he was able to put on that weight is because he had the confidence to know what he was doing. But it wasn't about the weight; it was about knowing we had the right guy."
Easy R-Patz, put the fangs away.
Fans feeling left out of the Twilight madness have only hours before 'New Moon' hits cities around Australia. Major cinemas are holding sold-out midnight screenings tonight, and are expecting to see foyers filled hours before doors open.
We many not have R-Patz, K-Stew or Taycob here in the flesh, but we’re definitely ready to sink our teeth into the movie.
