Last night, Michael Jackson’s children took to the stage at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards to accept the late, great entertainer’s Lifetime Achievement Awards - and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.
But while a throng of cousins were present on stage with MJ’s two eldest kids, Paris and Prince, noticeably absent was Michael’s youngest Blanket.
Blanket, who is only 7 years old, was allegedly freaked out with stage-fright, with Perezhilton.com reporting that he became "overwhelmed moments before his brother Prince Michael and sister Paris took the stage."
Blanket instead stood backstage with his grandma Katherine Jackson.
Following a 3-D tribute to the King Of Pop, performed by Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson, Prince and Paris took the stage to give heartfelt speeches.
12-year-old Prince told the captivated audience:
"We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father, Michael Jackson. First of all we'd like to thank God for watching over us these last seven months and our grandma and grandpa for their love and support. We'd also like to thank the fans, our father loved you so much because you were always there for him,”
Our father was always concerned about the planet and humanity, through all his hard work and dedication, he has helped through many charities and donated to all of them. Through all his songs, his message was simple - love. We will continue to spread his message and help the world. Thank you. We love you daddy.
Paris then took the stage and added:
"Daddy was supposed to be here. Daddy was gonna perform but he couldn't perform last year. Thank you, we love you Daddy."
In other MJ news, it’s been confirmed that Dr Conrad Murray, who injected Jackson with a cocktail of powerful sedatives in the hours before his death, could be facing prosecution for involuntary manslaughter for gross negligence. We’ll keep you posted…
