In his first live televised performance since allegedly assaulting Rihanna, hip-hop star Chris Brown made sure he was the talking point of the night for the right reasons.
The singer, who was sporting a sparkling glove, left the star-studded audience in Los Angeles breathless with his tribute performance to Michael Jackson.
Performing a medley of the King Of Pop’s greatest hits including ‘Remember The Time’ and ‘Billie Jean,’ the 21-year-old wowed fans also carried out some of signature moves including Jacko’s famous moonwalk.
But it all became too much for the ‘Run It’ star, who suddenly broke down when he grabbed the mic to sing ‘Man In The Mirror.’
The self-confessed Jacko fanatic’s voice cracked and as he struggled to fight back tears he was forced to stop singing.
Later in the night, Chris returned to the stage to accept the AOL Fandemonium Award where he apologised to fans. He said, “I let you all down before, but I won’t do it again. I promise you.”
Meanwhile paying tribute to another one of music’s greatest stars at the bash was Alicia Keys.
The pregnant singer, who bagged the prize for Best Female R&B Artist, honoured lifetime-achievement award winner Prince, alongside Patti LaBelle and Janelle Monae.
Eminem was also welcomed to the stage with rounds of cheers as he joined Keyshia Cole and B.o.B for his verse on the remix of ‘Airplanes,’ which ran seamlessly into his newest single ‘Not Afraid.’
Kanye West also wowed fans with his explosive new track ‘Power’ in his first return to the stage since his run-in with Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
T.I also made a strong comeback, following his release from prison in December, with his performance of ‘Yeah, Ya Know (Takers)’ with Travis Barker.
