MTV’s smash-hit reality show ‘16 and Pregnant’ is a documentary-style series focusing on the controversial subject of teen pregnancy. Each episode follows a five to seven month period in the life of a teenager as they navigate their way through the stormy waters of impending parenthood.
Earlier this month, MTV put a call out to young Australian Mum’s who had found themselves pregnant at 16 and wanted to share their story. After receiving a tonne of great submissions we narrowed it down to five young women, each with a unique and touching personal story.
This week Tassie teen Brooke tells her story: I was 16 when I fell pregnant, I was just starting college and had a boyfriend of a year. At the time I was living with him, his father, grandparents, brother and sister in a three bedroom home! My son is now 16 months old and I still suffer with anxiety and depression from the stress of family, friends and everyday life. I want to tell my story to show young women that pregnancy is only the start!!
Over the next few weeks you’ll also meet Jordan (QLD) and Jasmine (VIC) – both have experienced the insurmountable highs and lows of being unexpectant teenage parents.
