Genre-mashing DJ Steve Aoki has always been known for criss-crossing some interesting sounds in his sets – but even hardcore fans are raising eyebrows at the unusual line up of guests for his new album – which including rockers Weezer, Black Star and King of Crunk Lil Jon!

Talking about his list of eclectic music guests to feature on his highly-anticipated follow up album, the electronic maven told MTV: “With my album, I'm doing a couple of different tracks with some familiar voices. Zuper Blahq, Kid Cudi, Lil Jon, Weezer, Black Star, Uffie, Sky Ferreira ... just mixing it up with some hip-hop vocals, rock vocals, house vocals. So yeah, it should be interesting.”

The producer/dj/label owner also said the current trend of collaborating with well-known artists is helping to expand the popularity of the fledging electronic music scene.

“We're making enough of a riot in our own world that more people are getting interested and want to get involved in what we're doing. And if it makes sense to do a collaboration with a familiar voice that everyone knows, then it can make sense on both sides. It can work on the underground and it can work in the commercial world.”

Dance music fans are already salivating over the first glimpses of his new sound – which includes the a version of Kid Cudi’s ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ with MGMT and Ratatat and his recent hit with Zuper Blahg (aka Will.I.Am of Black Eyed Peas) ‘I’m In The House’ that he dropped in February this year.

The yet untitled album is predicted for release sometime this year – we’ll keep you posted.
