The Kooks have revealed they were close to splitting up after a string of rows last year.
The indie band say they were forced to take a break when bassist Max Rafferty quit, after reportedly falling out with the other members.
Singer Luke Pritchard tells the Daily Star, “It all got a bit much and we had to make a few changes. We were falling out a lot so it wasn’t the most creative time. But now I feel we’re writing the best music we’ve ever done.”
But the rockers have since recruited new bassist Peter Denton and are now working on a “happy” record that’s due out this summer.
He added, “I just wanna make a f**king happy record, one that makes you feel good in the summer.”
“The new songs are very groovy as well. They might surprise a few people.”
