According to CNN, the ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ band have been axed from ‘Michael Forever - The Tribute Concert’s’ original line-up after a major backlash from MJ fans.
Hundreds of Jacko lovers kicked up stink about the group taking part in the Cardiff bash on October 8 because of bassist Gene Simmons’ less than flattering comments about the pop icon last year.
Despite the King of Pop being acquitted of molestation charges in 2005, Gene told Classic Rock magazine,
“There’s no question in my mind he molested those kids. Not a doubt.”
Following hordes of complaints, Chris Hunt, CEO of Global Live Events told CNN,
“We have listened to Michael's fans and are grateful to have been alerted to these unfortunate statements by Gene Simmons."
"Under the circumstances we fully agree that KISS is a band Michael admired we have no choice but to rescind our invitation to them to appear in our tribute concert. We offer our sincerest apologies to Mrs. [Katherine] Jackson and the family for this oversight.
"Our primary concern must be to do justice to Michael's memory, and to put on a tribute that the family and the fans will find suitable and fit for a King, our King of Pop."
Other acts confirmed to take part on the night include Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Leona Lewis and Smokey Robinson.
