Two days ago, we reported how Caleb Followill’s shambolic stage performance at a Kings Of Leon gig in Dallas left fans crestfallen. Now, the band has cancelled its entire U.S tour saying that Caleb is “suffering vocal issues and exhaustion.”
But according to a source close to the band, the dilemmas haunting the band are much more severe, and the rockers are urging their frontman, who recently married model Lily Aldridge, to check into rehab to help with his “dark demon”.
"They are trying to get Caleb to go to rehab. It is mostly for alcohol," the source told USMagazine.com. "[That's why] they ended up canceling the whole tour... he drinks like a fish."
On Friday, the ‘Need Somebody” rockers were forced to cut a gig short when Caleb shocked fans by storming off mid-way through their set. In video footage posted on YouTube, the singer is heard telling the audience, “I'm gonna go backstage for a second. I'm gonna vomit, I'm gonna drink a beer and I'm gonna come back out here and I'm gonna play three more songs."
But he never returned to the stage.
A second source added: "It's true. Caleb's drinking is out of control and they are trying to get him into rehab. It's a dark demon he has been fighting for awhile."
A rep for the band added to USMagazine.com: "The reason for the cancellation of the tour is Caleb is under doctor's orders for vocal rest. They feel terrible about canceling. They look forward to getting back on the road at the end of September."
Brother Jared also took to twitter to explain to their fans: "There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed," Jared wrote Saturday. "I know you guys aren't stupid. I can't lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade."
On Monday, after news of the cancelled tour went wide, he added: "Utterly depressed. It's completely out of my hands. Family has to come 1st."
See why we're hoping that Caleb is on the mend soon in the video below...
