10: Katy Perry – Waking Up In Vegas

‘Waking Up in Vegas’ is the fourth single off Katy Perry’s official debut album ‘One Of The Boys’ and has sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide. Thanks to this song, 2009 has been a golden year for Miss Perry and this track is a wake up call that Katy knows very well. At 21 years old, after a very big night on the town, she found herself in the City of Sin, the proud owner of a marriage license! Luckily it was fake, but she’s still saving the veil for a special occasion...

9: Eminem – We Made You

After four and half years of personal problems, Eminem is back, stronger than before. And with his new single ‘We Made You’, Eminem is giving us a hilarious take on the darker side of showbiz and nobody was spared: Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen DeGeneres, Sarah Palin, Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson are all subjected to the Eminem treatment!. More provocative than ever, ‘We Made You’ was the debut release from his new album ‘Relapse’, released in April 2009.

8: David Guetta Feat. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over

The on-line release of ‘When Love Takes Over’ on the 21st April 2009 nearly melted cyber space. With 18 million hits and 35 thousand downloads in the first few days of its release, the song was set on it’s path to become the smash hit of the summer! David’s philosophy is very clear: make people dance and have fun, however they want to label the music. Judging by the amazing results of this single, the public feels the same…

7: Kings Of Leon – Use Somebody

The Followill boys are rock and roll rebels, but every time they go on stage, they tell each other ‘I Love You’, because they really do… It’s thanks to the love they share that ‘Use Somebody’ was created; out of a moment of loneliness and anger on tour, they became stronger than ever. They won one Grammy, two Brits and an NME Award, selling over 2,340,000 digital downloads of the single in the United States and continuing to amaze audiences around the world with their live performances.

6: Madonna – Celebration

Whatever she decides to do, from children’s books to a walk in Jerusalem , Madonna is the sacred icon of pop. And it’s those 25 years of her career that are being celebrated. With the third greatest hits release of her career the battle on the pop arena is definitively won, even though ‘definitive’ is not the best word to use with Madonna, because she’ll only go changing and prove us all wrong again…

5: Beyonce – Halo

‘Halo’ was originally written for Leona Lewis, but maybe it’s just as well that she was too busy to record it. Instead the track went to the woman of the year and the rest is history. With beautiful dancing and a little bit of acting, Beyonce’s ‘Halo’ has shone all over the video of the song.

4: Green Day – Know Your Enemy

‘Know Your Enemy’ is the song Green Day made their triumphant return with last May, to leave an indelible stamp on the worldwide charts, and cheer up those many fans who have suffered mightily during that four year absence… TV, politics, racism, the economic crisis; the Enemy is just around the corner and Green Day are going into combat armed with their songs.

3: Shakira – She Wolf

We thought we knew every inch of Shakira already, but in ‘She Wolf’, it’s as if the most remote corners of her body, from her nose to her toes, have taken on a life of their own, and all we have to do is decide where to look when the Latin Bomb goes off… ‘She Wolf’ also shows off a new, and very welcome side of Shakira’s musical taste. Shakira is the Queen of Latin pop - believe it!

2: Black Eyed Peas – I’ve Gotta Feeling

A song like ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ is designed with one thing in mind: to make you dance. The song made such a strong impression that it flew to the top of the charts all around the world, and remained high in the listings alongside ‘Boom Boom Pow’. I’ve Gotta feeling is light, fun and optimistic, an anti-depressant and just what the doctor ordered for 2009.

1: Lady Gaga – Poker Face

Lady Gaga has the attitude of a modern artist, as well as a taste for provocative statements, and a love of extreme dressing up. ’Poker Face’ is the second single from her album, ‘The Fame’, and it’s the perfect statement of who she is: ambiguous, fun, ironic and surreal… There is just enough mystique left around Lady Gaga to perpetuate an intriguing myth. At least until the next poker game…
