Back with his second album ‘Everything Is Boring And Everyone Is a F**king Liar,’ the Baltimore MC's new mix of sexy party tracks and energetic rap have certainly pushed him further into public consciousness.
As well collaborating with the likes of Boyz Noize, XXXchange and Sam Spiegel on his latest release, the electro rocker has also been busy touring with international stars such as Ke$ha, LMFAO and Mark Ronson.
And now the retro loving fashionista, who once confessed his hair stylist is “one of the most important people” in his life, is preparing to bring his tongue twisting tunes and his perfectly teased mane back to Oz for ‘Summadayze.’
MTV caught up with the lyrical genius to talk about his hotly anticipated return Down Under, his “sweetheart” Ke$ha and getting wild…

MTV Australia: So, Spank Rock, you’ve just been announced for Summadayze – are you excited?
Spank Rock: Yeah I’m super excited. I always love performing in Australia. One because it’s summer there when it’s winter here, but also because everyone’s super fun and ready to go and extremely supportive of my music, so it’s fun.
MTV Australia: Give us a sneaky insight into what fans can expect from your set?
Spank Rock: I think the set is gonna be pretty raw and straight forward. I wanna kind of prove myself as an MC a bit more and I also want to test the crowds and see who’s a real Spank Rock fan!
MTV Australia: Since we last saw you in Oz in 2010 you’ve been off on some pretty big tours…
Spank Rock: Yeah since then I’ve been on tour with Ke$ha and LMFAO in America. I spent two months with them on the road, so the summer was really fun.
MTV Australia: Are you a big Ke$ha and LMFAO fan?
Spank Rock: It’s not music that I listen to at home if that’s what you wanna know (laughs). But I love Ke$ha so much, I think she’s a total sweetheart and I had so much fun on the tour with her and we are still in touch now. And LMFAO were putting on just amazing, exciting shows, and they were total sweethearts too.
MTV Australia: So are LMFAO as crazy as their reputation suggests?
Spank Rock: I think so yeah! It's funny they definitely have a lot of energy and they like to drink a lot!
MTV Australia: You recently released your second album – tell us about it…
Spank Rock: It’s a pretty wild album I think for a rapper. I try to travel through a lot of different genres and different influences. I have a lot of awesome producers on it, some who have never been heard of before, like Belief, who produced ‘Nasty’ with Big Freedia. This is one of his first projects of having like a really solid, official release. But I’ve also worked with people like Sam Spiegel…obviously I’ve worked with Mark Ronson and I’ve worked with Boyz Noize, who executive produced the album and does the most tracks.
MTV Australia: And lastly, as well as returning to Oz what else is coming up?
Spank Rock: Next stop I’m going on tour with Big Freedia, who’s featured on my album, and Pictureplane.
Spank Rock will appear at Summadayze in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth, Summafieldayze on the Gold Cost, December 31st to January 3rd. As well as Pyramid Rock Festival on December 29th, Phillip Island and Field Day 2012 NYD at Sydney Domain.
