The ‘Sexy Chick’ star, who was due to perform at the Rod Laver Arena on November 25, has reportedly been snubbed after a violent brawl at sister venue Hisense Arena last year.
At the time two rival gangs fought in the audience, causing the hip hop star to jump from the stage to break them up.
Concert promoter Dwayne Cross told the Herald Sun of his ban, “It seems like a personal thing against Akon.
“We toured Akon here in April at the Showgrounds and there wasn’t a single problem.
"What happened at Hisense was a one-time thing. It could have happened from someone at a Neil Diamond concert having too much to drink."
The R&B festival will continue to go ahead in Melbourne with Flo Rida, Stan Walker, Ciara, Jay Sean and Soulja Boy - and Akon will headline shows in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.
