He’s famously battled an array of addictions, and with ‘friends’ like these it’s little wonder why! Sir Elton John has come clean about some pals who spiked his food with cocaine in the hopes of making him play into the night.

The revelation surfaces in a doco that squares the lens on Elton’s rise to fame in the sixities and early 70s called ‘Madman Across The Water: The Making of Elton’.

Contactmusic.com reports that the ‘Yellow Brick Road’ singer said about the night: "I left at 7.30 in the morning and I thought, 'I've never stayed up until 7.30 before but I feel really good!' Years later I learned they had put cocaine in my food."

His food was laced by the drug by Three Dog Night singer Danny Hutton, who said, "I might have forgot to tell him. Well, it certainly didn't hurt him. He went on to be quite successful."

In more savory news, the flamboyant hit-maker is set to perform another song for Disney, but this time, he’s sharing the studio with Lady Gaga!

The duo, who have shared stage space and much mutual admiration over the past year are taking it to the next level with a duet to the new disney mega-movie ‘Gnomeo & Juliet’.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the track called ‘Hello Hello’ will be heard when the movie’s lead characters – lawn ornaments voiced by James McAvoy and Emily Blunt – meet for the first time.

Produced by Elton’s long time partner David Furnish ‘Hello Hello’ is tipped to be released in February of next year. But the real question on fans lips, whatever will they do for the video! And if you were salivating with anticipation for Lady’s new album, then rest safe in the knowledge that it’s got Elton ‘s thumbs up.

"I've already heard [Gaga's new album], so I think it's more or less done," he told "EW" earlier this month. "Her record — it's f---ing amazing." He added that he particularly loved one song, saying, "'Born This Way,' which is the title song, will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive.' This is the new 'I Will Survive.' That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem. Actually, it's not a gay anthem — it can apply to anybody."
