It was meant to be the ultimate tribute to one of the most talented performers of our generation – but now, The Michael Forever Tribute Concert has suffered another blow with headline performers the Black Eyed Peas pulling out just days before it kicks off!
According to the New York Times, the RnB hit makers, who recently announced their hiatus, cited unavoidable circumstances as the reason they're dropping out.
Head of Global Live Events Chris Hunt said via press release: “Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Black Eyed Peas will be unable to perform at this Saturday’s Michael Forever event,” he told Reuters.
“It is with regret that we announce the removal of Black Eyed Peas from the Michael Forever bill, but I look forward to a great night with other earth-shattering artists,” he said.
The show, which is due to take place in Cardiff on Saturday, features Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis, Ne-Yo, Usher and JLS. Beyoncé will also appear via videotaped performance.

Since the announcement, the show has been plagued with court cases, low ticket sales, copyright issues and has also divided the Jackson clan. La Toya Jackson along with brothers Marlon, Tito and Jackie will attend, while Jermaine, Randy and Janet are all boycotting because the event falls during the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray.
And that’s not all – the Jackson estate, which is controlled by executors and not the family, has raised concerns about the organizers “charitable intentions”.
Chris Hunt had previously stated that an unspecified portion of the proceeds will go to three charities that Michael supported.
Black Eyed Peas aren’t the first band to pull out of the concert - the promoters had already scratched Gene Simmons and KISS off the bill because of unsavory comments he made about Michael during his child molestation case.
