It was big gowns, big hair and even bigger screams as our favourite A-list stars hit the red carpet for ‘The 62nd Annual ‘Emmy Awards.’

After hours of careful preening, celebrities across the globe posed for pics and strutted their stuff at the TV bash, which took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Among the first to arrive were ‘Hills’ hotties Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt.

The besties showed off their new retro looks, with back-combed do’s as they stepped out ahead of the final episode, which airs here tomorrow (August 31) @ 9.30pm (AEST) on MTV Australia.

Lo opted for a green Karen Caldwell dress with white peep toe shoes and bright pink lips, while Steph showed off her long pins in a thigh-high black lace shift dress and over-sized earrings.

Another transformation came in the form of Kelly Osbourne.

‘The Osbournes’ star, who’s dropped more than three dress sizes, posed for snappers in a full length Tony Ward dress, which clearly highlighted her tiny waist.

Revealing the secrets behind her sexy new figure, she said, ''I've completely changed the way I eat since doing Dancing With The Stars.

“A trick I've learned is to eat just a little bit of something that has no carbs and no sugar in it before you go to sleep because it keeps your metabolism going.”

Meanwhile fellow reality babe Kim Kardashian chose to keep her famous curves more hidden than usual in a billowy white Marchesa gown and big cuff by Lorraine Schwartz.

And another brunette also going for old school glam was Lea Michele.

Despite missing out on the gong for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series’ for ‘Glee,’ at the event, the stunner, who was celebrating her 24th birthday, looked glowing in a Oscar de la Renta gown.

Speaking about her glam outfit, she said, "I wanted to do blue. I've done black and green.

"I was ready for blue to be the colour, and I love Oscar de la Renta so when I saw this, it was like he read my mind."

And dishing the dirt about working with Britney Spears recently on the hit comedy, she told Access Hollywood,

“She was great to work with.

“It was one of those things where you go to work and you’re like, ‘I can’t believe we’re doing this!’”

Flying the flag for Australia at the bash were Rose Byrne and Toni Collette, who were both up for a nomination each.

Sadly, both the ‘United States of Tara’ star - who kept it simple in a strapless grey dress – and the ‘Damages’ beauty, who wore a Greek goddess style white gown, both went home empty handed.

In fact it was the newer faces who seemed to dominate the evening, as several stars took home gongs for the very first time.

Claire Danes from ‘Temple Grandin,’ Eric Stonestreet from ‘Modern Family,’ ‘Glee’s’ Jane Lynch, Archie Panjabi from ‘The Good Wife’ and Aaron Paul from ‘Breaking Bad’ all bagged their first trophies, as well as ‘Glee’s’ Ryan Murphy, who also snagged his first Emmy for ‘Directing for a Comedy Series.’

But the most touching moment of the night came from Hollywood hunk George Clooney.

The hearthrob had half the audience sniffing as he accepted his ‘Bob Hope Humanitarian Award’ - whilst recounting his own experiences with the late comedy legend.
