It’s the night music fans everywhere have been waiting for - and with a jam-packed line-up of performances, hot comebacks and emotional tributes, the ‘2012 Grammy Awards’ is sure to be the most memorable to date!

While Adele dominated the 54th annual bash by scooping six awards, followed by the Foo Fighters with five, Kanye West with four and Taylor Swift with two – the evening was also a chance for the biggest names in showbiz to pay their respects to one of the world’s greatest singers – Whitney Houston.

"Whitney, we will always love you," host LL Cool J said as the bash kicked off with a video clip of the pop icon in action.

Superfan Alicia Keys, who performed a tribute to late singer Etta James alongside Bonnie Raitt, also honoured her idol, adding,

“As we were reminded just yesterday, when a truly great artist leaves us, their legacy lives on."

Meanwhile, RnB star Bruno Mars gave a special shout out to the vocal legend mid-song, telling the crowd at LA’s Staples Center,

"Yo, tonight we celebrate. We celebrate the beautiful Miss Whitney Houston.”

However, the most memorable moment undoubtedly came from Jennifer Hudson, who performed a powerful and moving rendition of one of Whitney’s most famous ballads, ‘I Will Always Love You.’

But J-Hud wasn’t the only one showing off an impressive set of lungs, Brit superstar Adele made an explosive return to the stage for the first time since undergoing vocal chord surgery last year.

Silencing the audience with her pitch perfect range, the talented singer, who won the most trophies on the night, including ‘Best Pop Solo Performance,’ ‘Song of the Year,’ and ‘Best Pop Vocal Album,’ proved she was back to best with a flawless performance of ‘Rolling In The Deep.’

Talking of comebacks, Chris Brown made his first appearance at the bash, three years after he was arrested ahead of the 2009 event for assaulting his ex Rihanna.

Showing off his high-flying skills and leaping across colourfully lit up blocks, he belted out his new single ‘Turn Up The Music’ from his upcoming fifth album ‘Fortune,’ as well as his infectious dance smash ‘Beautiful People.’

Meanwhile his former flame RiRi made sure all eyes were back on her with a saucy performance of her single ‘We Found Love,’ followed by an acoustic collaboration with Coldplay’s Chris Martin for their duet ‘Princess of China.’

Also making a return to the TV spotlight, following her recent divorce from Russell Brand, was blue-haired hitmaker Katy Perry, who treated fans to her new song ‘Part Of Me.’
