- Smashing Pumpkins To Perform This Friday At The Lair!

Duran Duran, CSS And Hot Hot Heat Join The Fun

Attention lava lovers! The Lair is whipping up some serious magma THIS FRIDAY with a super V Fest Special that promises to rock you to the core. That's more heat, more explosions, and a whole lotta flow.

The acts aiming to lather up your sweaty bods are nothing short of amazing. In the tight throbbing space of MTV's beat dungeon, the legendary SMASHING PUMPKINS, along with Hot Hot Heat and CSS, will be performing a range of acts sure to stir you up at slick close range.

The Smashing Pumpkins of course need no introduction. They've regrouped after a seven year separation, and plan to blast you with their Zeitgeist until you can't zeit down no more. What makes the appearance extra special is that the Pumpkins have rarely performed television events in the past decade, and so you can expect a performance that's not only a one-off exclusive, but powerfully intimate to boot.

They'll be teamed up with Hot Hot Heat, who'll be crackling in the combustion of their latest album "Happiness Ltd", which vocalist Steve Bays describes as "live, dirty rock record with urgency" Meanwhile CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy, Portuguese for "Tired of Being Sexy") will bring their "thick, pulsating haphazard synths" to the music pit, and are sure to steam up your earholes in the process.

But if that wasn't already enough, adding to an already-seductive sound setup there's even more for melody fetishists everywhere. Veteran vibemasters DURAN DURAN plan to slide by for an exclusive interview with our super VJs Darren McMullen and Ruby Rose at this very special episode of the Lair. With Duran Duran such vintage musos, and Darren (along with MTV VJ Maz Compton and The Lair itself) recently nominated for an Astra Award (the official subscription television awards), you'd be crazy to miss out on all the cool that's in store.

"Just when I think we can't top a line-up something like this comes along which demonstrates that we can keep taking it to new levels," says Darren. "In this show we'll have Pop Icons, Rock Legends and the hottest line-up of new school indie artists I'll have to remember to save a little of myself to do it all again when we cover the festival on Saturday."

Of course, he's referring to the magmatic V Festival, which again will be hosted by Maz, Daz and Ruby, this weekend.

But in the meantime, the hottest tix are underground. Tickets are sure to be limited, although for those who can't tear themselves away from their computers or mobile phones, the www.mtv.com.au team will be cruising through the crowds at The Lair and interviewing the night's performers to give tech savvy viewers VIP access on the night. You'll also be able to tune in to MTV for all the action live from 7pm this Friday.

So get ready for MTV's V Fest Special of The Lair this Friday at 7pm, and dig the dungeon!
