- And The Winners Are ... Timbaland And More!

MTV MOVIE, SPORTS AND INTERNATIONAL ARTIST AWARDS

Well there may be no surprises, but there's still a whole lot of gossip about the winners of MTV Australia's International Music Artist Award, Movie Star Award and Sports Award 2008, who were presented with their trophies at the awe-inspiring neon-nirvana that is the MTVAAs.

International Music Artist of The Year- Timbaland

The Veronicas handed over the International Music Artist Of The Year to super producer Timbaland, who accepted his Award by videocam, and promised "a lot more to come." Meanwhile, the Veronicas thought that they'd definitely "turn" for each other, and were in turn stoked to be so "turnable". So everyone was happy!

Timbaland has enjoyed months at the top of the Australian music charts for songs including "Apologise" and "The Way I Are", along with his three-times platinum album (in Australia) "Timbaland Presents: Shock Value".

Movie Star Award - Matt Damon

OC "It" girl Mischa Barton flew in to Australia to present Matt Damon with the MTV Australia Movie Star Award 2008. The first of it's kind, the Award recognises Matt's contributions to the silver screen, starring in a string of box office successes that straddle multiple genres: from drama to thriller, and action to comedy.

Mischa presented Matt with the Award, who accepted by videocam. Matt said he couldn't be in Oz, due to filming in London, while pretending to be in Baghdad a trip to Australia in between would have made it all too confusing! But he did congratulate us on our good taste; namely, for voting him over Brad Pitt and George Clooney we didn't tell him that they weren't really in the running...

Sports Award - Mick Fanning

In Australia, sport ranks pretty seriously. This year's MTV Australia Sports Award recognises the top sportsperson of the year, and we've recognised Mick Fanning as riding the crest of the wave.

Mick grew up in Sydney's Northern Beaches and spent every spare moment in the waves dreaming about being a pro-surfer. In 2001, at age 19, that dream came true when he won the Bells Beach Rip Curl Pro as the "Wild Card" of the event. Now, he's anything but a chancey choice, having cut himself as a nine-time world champion, and now winning the MTV Sports Award 2008.

Mick made a moving speech where he thanked not only the usuals, but the ANZACs, without whom we wouldn't live in such a great place. He also wished everyone a sick night unfortunately one of the audience took him literally! and was ported out of the venue after a "bad prawn" experience that splashed across the venue
