The hottest Aussie acts in the music biz will go head to head for this year’s ‘ARIA Awards.’
Battling it out to be named the best local artists of 2010, ‘Australian Idol’ winner Guy Sebastian, songstress Sia, Angus and Julia Stone, rockers Birds of Tokyo and Washington lead the race with an incredible SIX nominations each.

Coming up close behind is John Butler Trio, Tame Impala and The Temper Trap, who’ve all bagged five, while Dan Sultan and rock icons Powderfinger, who are currently on their final Aussie tour, have bagged four each.

Other nominees, announced at the Sydney Conservatorium Of Music today, include pop princess Kylie Minogue, Vanessa Amorosi, Cloud Control and Eddy Current Suppression Ring – who’ve each scooped three.

ARIA bosses also announced four early winners of the 'Artisan Awards,' including Kris Moyes for ‘Best Video’ for his work on Sia’s smash hit ‘Clap Your Hands’ – and Wayne Connolly was honoured as ‘Engineer of the Year’ for his role in Paul Dempsey’s album ‘Fast Friends.’
As well as picking up six nominations, Newport duo Angus and Julia Stone were celebrating early after being presented with gongs for ‘Producer of the Year’ and ‘Best Cover Art’ for their #1 album ‘Down The Way.’
